Aims of the website Our primary aim to create a useful resource for UK and Ireland birdwatching. Our directory of birding links for the United Kingdom and Ireland is our primary section and the UK Birdwatching Forum and UK Birding News are there to support questions and matters arising from the directory and provide birding news relevant to the UK and Ireland. We wish to appeal to all levels of interest from those who spend most of their free time birding to those who may visit a reserve on the odd occasion. We do have a commercial element to this site, which we believe makes it more viable. We have and will continue to support charitable bird organisations through donations funded by from profits made. Non-birders - This is for you! We are particularly keen to encourage the non-birdwatching community to experience the hobby and have set up a UK birdwatching forum where you can post your questions - and so far it's the beginners who don't mind asking. It's very cheap to do and birding is a family friendly activity in case you weren't sure! Most birders are pretty sane and the chances are that you know one. If you enjoy the outdoors then birding is something you can try whilst having a walk and enjoying the countryside. We invite you to look round the birding directory and you will find that most of the places to see birds are located in pleasant places to visit, so if you like the outdoors, you'll at least like the venue if not the inhabitants! See the old birding.uk.com site... Some of you might remember the old site run by husband and wife team Phil Rennett and Stella Baylis. Check out the WaybackMachine to view it (and others!).
