Since the Kent Ornithological Society was founded in 1951, its members have played an important part in chronicling the county's birdlife, contributing records to the annual Kent Bird Report, taking part in census or atlas work, often in conjunction with the British Trust for Ornithology, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and English Nature.
