The shores of Loch Sunart on the west coast of Scotland contain some of the most extensive oakwoods in the country, rich in biodiversity and highly valued by local people for generations. The woodlands are now the focus of a broad-based partnership working to restore and expand them - the Sunart Oakwoods Initiative. This work is bringing new employment to communities, enriching wildlife habitats and improving access to the forests so that people can experience a unique closeness to nature and wildlife unrivalled in Europe.
