Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales

The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales is a charitable organisation which manages 92 nature reserves throughout the counties of Cardiff, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Merthyr Tydfil, Bridgend, Neath Port Talbot, Swansea, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and the Vale of Glamorgan

These nature reserves form a land holding equal to approximately 4000 acres.  Of these 92 reserves, 10 lie within Special Areas of Conservation and Special Protection Areas, 7 are National Nature Reserves, (NNRs), 40 Sites of Special Scientific Interest, (SSSIs) and 5 Scheduled Ancient Monuments.

Whilst many of these reserves are located within some of the most rural areas of the country, a proportion are found within the heart of industrial Wales and some are located within or close to severely deprived inner city areas.

The work of the trust is supported by a small permanent staff, however much of the trusts activities are conducted by team of voluteers without whom this work would be difficult to deliver.
