Wetland Bird Surveys (WeBS) are carried out along the coast, on
estuaries and at inland wetland sites, on a monthly basis, using a
network of volunteers. The Wetland Bird Survey (WeBS) is a joint scheme
of the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO), The Wildfowl & Wetlands
Trust (WWT), Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) and the
Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC).
It is the scheme which
monitors non-breeding waterfowl in the UK. The principal aims of the
scheme are to identify population sizes, determine trends in numbers
and distribution, and to identify important sites for waterbirds.
Spurn in the Parish of Easington, Bempton, Flamborough, Bridlington and
Hornsea are all popular places to go birdwatching along the Holderness
coast. Information on these sites can all be found on this website.
