Our reserve on the island of Coll has long, white shell sand beaches, sand dunes and machair grassland, all typical Hebridean habitats. The reserve is a stronghold for the rare corncrake. We are managing the reserve with local farmers to help corncrake numbers recover. There are also many other breeding birds on the reserve, including redshanks, lapwings and snipe. In the winter, large numbers of barnacle and Greenland white-fronted geese use the site.
