Hi Indunil

How do the local people feel about conservation in Sri Lanka and has there been any initiatives from the likes of Birdlife International to involve locals with conservation work?

Also do you know how strong the Spot-billed Pelicans population has been in recent years? My understanding is that Southern India and Sri Lanka hold a large percentage of the global population.

It's a place I know little about other than a few articles I've read in magazines or reports from a friend who has visited it twice.

Thanks for an interesting post, John
