Exclamation Bird Atlas re-starts Novemeber 1st

Sunday 1 November is the start of the third year of fieldwork for Bird Atlas 2007-11 and you are encouraged to take part by contributing records.

So far 100,373 individual Timed Tetrad Visits have been submitted from almost 30,000 tetrads. The first two years have been well supported by volunteers across Britain and Ireland and early results show changes in distribution for many species, such as Jay which has expanded in range in the north (see map).

Icterine Warblers are Atlas Stars - BTO Atlas workers made an exciting breeding discovery in the north of Scotland. Two pairs of Icterine Warbler have been found, representing the fourth and fifth breeding records for Scotland (and, in turn, for Britain).
