Default Complete birds

of Britain and Europe. RSPB book by Rob Hume.

Went into town for the Boxing day sales and the other half said he was going to buy me a bird book but didn't know what to get so I found this book and fromm £29.99 to £3.99, I had to take it.
Lot's of useful info and descriptions with photos, much better than drawings.

If you want a good cheap book then go to WH Smiths for this one. Not one you can carry around with you as a field guide, too big

I've got this book. I bought it a while back and it came with an iPod field guide. It's not a bad book but like you say it's big and heavy. I've got the field guide on my iPod but I've not used it as I have the Collins eBird Guide on my PDA.

Maggie, you really don't know what an iPod is ? It's an MP3 player from Apple, they come in many flavours amd mine's a 3rd gen with video. It's a few years old now but works just fine and I mostly use it in the gym.

A PDA is a small, handheld computer. Mine's a Dell Axim and the main use was as an ebook reader. As I got a Kindle for Christmas the PDA's going in my camera bag and will be used for notes and bird IDing. Maybe, if I remember.

I popped into our local WHS yesterday and looked for this. They had a stack on the floor near the till, but they were reduced to £8.99. Perhaps it's a later print?

Dave..

I got it today, £5.99 at our WH Smith. Perhaps they're just making the prices up as they go along.

I've donated mine to my Mum, its a great book but it doesn't really do anything a combination of my other guides doesn't. However, as a single volume its brilliant and had I not already got the Collins guide, a photo-field guide, a cheapo photo encyclopedia of European birds, and a guidebook and cd of songs and calls, it'd saved me quite a lot of money
