Default Best app as field guide?

I notice that the app discussion is a few years on now so wondered which of the many bird apps are recommended as a field guide and note book? I have an iPhone.

I think you might be asking a lot to find a field guide and notebook in one app, but Birdwatch magazine recommends the Collins Bird Guide app for the iPhone and iPad (13.49), and Birdwatcher's Diary (9.99) which apparently allows you to "note all the species you see or hear, including time and exact location, both of which are automatically recorded". There's also a free app - Bird Journal - but the upgrade to the Premium edition is recommended by Birdwatch, and that costs 39.99 .

Hope this helps.

Tony
