Default Collins Bird Guide delayed again.

Has anyone got any idea why the 2nd edition of the Collins bird guide has been delayed until January now. And the paperback is not out until March. It was supposed to be released March this year so will be almost a year late. It has had at least 4 revised release dates this year. Somebody in my family has had it on order for about 8 months and is getting increasingly frustrated. If there is anyone who can throw some light on the matter it would be most appreciated.

Hi Ruth, I'm going to wait for the paperback anyway. But it was supposed to be out in March then October then the 5th November then the 27th November. But now its January so I will be surprised if it appears in January. But I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

Jonny, I reckon that the book is delayed due to a certain TWO new additions to the British list, namely the Tufted Puffin which turned up in September and, the Eastern-crowned Warbler which was October. Both species were a first for Britain so the delay could well be due to these being introduced into the book.

Just a hunch!

Your hunch could be a good one Dennis. Suppose we will just have to wait till January to find out.

Hi.

I got a copy of the second edition from the RSPB reserve at Rainham Marshes last week. They actually had some on Christmas Eve. It seems the RSPB has pre general release copies.

It's as nice as the first edition with some extra pages. A nice book, informative and some good artwork.

The new copy has a Tern on the cover and is still showing as being a pre-order at Amazon.
