Smile Your bird of the day/week!

My bird of the day, well yesterday, was a juvenile Chaffinch that came into my garden with a parent! I do not get Chaffinches in my garden regularly so this was a nice surprise and also this was the first juvenile Chaffinch I have seen in my garden. It was lovely watching the juvenile lead it's parent a merry dance around the garden, the parent had to keep searching the young one out to feed it!

Default My bird of the week

I suppose it was actually last week but this stunning male Yellowhammer I photographed on Saturday was very confiding (for a Yellowhammer) and allowed me to get very close.

They are fast becoming a scarce bird in the Glasgow area

According to Wikipedia:
The Rosy Starling, or Rose-coloured Starling, Sturnus roseus is a passerine bird in the starling family Sturnidae. It is sometimes given its own, monotypic genus Pastor; a split supported by recent studies; its closest living relatives are still not certainly known (Jønsson & Fjeldså 2006).
