Default Bittern Kent

Bittern have once more been sighted on my local patch again. They over-winter in our local lake in the reed bed.

I'll be investigating and seeing if I can get a look at it.

Good luck Neil!

I dipped bittern at our local hotspot yesterday and had to make do with great white egret! Did see a stunning bittern on boxing day but that was so last year

Exclamation Bitterns

Quick Update: The Bittern was seen during the cold spell on the iced over lake. A fox tried to surprise it by running on the ice.

I've seen lots of fox tracks on the ice which suggests they regularly try this.

Me and Alan noticed this also at Leighton Moss, salt marsh. We assumed it was fox prints in the snow ice at the edge of the water.
Other prints may have been otter, whatever they were, we missed them

Like to know if one was the fox trying to get an easy meal?
