Smile Leucistic Blackbird

We've got a regular female blackbird with a white neck.

The white head may make no difference in terms of camouflage as it breaks up the overall shape - just a theory!

I love this. Makes them stand out from the crowd.

Serious birders I guess ignore them but it's fascinating to me.

Like the white Lions, but this is a rare thing for them. But a bird, how dare it look different LOL

Default pure-white Great Tit

I was lucky enough to have a pure-white Great Tit visit my garden on Sunday morning here in Northern Ireland.
It seemed to be hanging out with an ordinary-coloured great tit and several chaffinches, visiting a neighbour's bird table. (I've yet to find out what she's feeding them that's better than my mealworms, fatballs and wild bird food.)

I got a good close up with my binoculars, but it flew off before I got my camera on. It was pure white, all puffed up against the cold, the only colour being its eye and ear. Beautiful.

I'll post a pic if it comes visit again (although we do have a resident hawk and I'm assuming being white leaves it at a disadvantage.)
