I don't know Dennis - I went to see the parakeets (easy) and then got sidetracked by the deer!
David
PS I only saw Ring Necked Parakeets. Apparently you can see Monk Parakeets at Southall in Middlesex or on the Isle of Dogs.

Yes, there are lesser spotted woodpeckers at Richmond Park but never an easy species to see anywhere!

Thank you very much for this folks, much appreciated. I dont suppose you know where in Richmond Park they are as it's quite a large Park from memory.

I have moved up to 87, although that includes the released common cranes on the Somerset levels, which I am slightly dubious about counting. Only five lifers so far!

Hi Adrian

I still think a seperate life list thread would be a better idea; this can be for 2012 lists (I'm on 183, latest tree pipit) and the other one could be for life lists (I'm on approx 230, latest red-rumped swallow).

What do you think?

Stuart

edit: I won't be at Upton Warren on Friday but I do plan to visit on one evening this spring/summer on my way home from work in Birmingham. If that appeals, let me know and I'll try to give you some notice!

Is that 183 for this year Stuart? I'm currently on 177 for 2012 so far but with a week in Norfolk & Suffolk coming up next weekend, that'll be increasing a fair bit. And i've got a week on Shetland this autumn as well to look forward to

If you are counting a proper year list Adrian, you might want to score off your hybrids.
But on the other hand, everyone has their own interpritation of what they count and so long as you are happy with it, thats all that matters.

Yep, 183 species if I count the Somerset cranes although I know I technically shouldn't. So 182 for the purists. (+3 in Italy which don't count...)

Hoping to give it a bit of a boost with 4 days on Skokholm next week, and then I'll spend the summer trying to track down tricky lifers (stone curlew, turtle dove etc) before seeing what the return migration brings.

If I end the year without a lesser spotted woodpecker or a firecrest, I am going to be cross.
