Default First (Part) Years Birding Completed

Having been birding for about 6 months, I have reset all the sightings in my Bird Guide app on the Iphone ready for the new year, in 6 months I managed to log 90 different species, not a great total I know but it now gives me a figure to try to better this year. I've already had 1 species not recorded last year (today's Reed Bunting).

Along the way I think I've learned a great deal, a lot of it thanks to the great depth of knowledge on this forum so thank you all for your help and advice. I will no doubt be calling on it again throughout the year :-)

Well you are just starting, like me two years ago. It's only just beginning and wow what a help and inspiration this forum has been. Great fun too.

90 is wonderful. Don't knock it.

well done on that, I think 90's great in 6 months. I think I've been going for about 5/6 years and I still find it really tricky and hope there will be somebody kind in the hide. Good luck!

It's great that you're already a regular to the forum after 6 months' birding. How wonderful! It's great to be able to share your passion with others.

90 is pretty damn good for six months from a standing start.

One of the nice things about being where you are now is that so many of your sightings are lifers! It doesn't last...

With a bit of effort you'll double that figure easily this year; perhaps even treble it. Are you a member of a RSPB member's group or similar? It's amazing how many more species you see when there are more experienced birders to point them out to you!
