Default Still here!

I noticed on Bird Guides today the number of birds that woud normally be gone by now but are still here. Red Rumped Swallow (Eyemouth), Swift (Northwich), Osprey (Bucks) and House Martin (Appleby Carrs).
Perhaps the mild weather has kept them here or maybe something else?

Even the Glossy Ibis are still here!

I saw that yesterday,it's my home town.........I didn't get to see it tho!

The weather is still very mild tho isn't it...............my heating isn't off more than it's on so maybe that's why a few stragglers are hanging around........I'm sure once the snow and frosts arrive they'll be off!

I even had a Bumble Bee and a Small Tortoiseshell still in the garden this week!

Interesting read, it may be a natural thing now to stay a little longer.

Easter last year I visited my sister near Kimbolton, Beds. On the morninig of 23rd March I got up early and went for a walk across the fields as it had snowed overnight to take a few pics. As I was out it started snowing again and to my amazement a Swallow came dashing through the falling snow at shoulder height right past me. I often wonder if that bird had overwintered or was an just an early arrival, also if it survived because it didn't warm up till much later that year.

Good read thanks Wasabout.
It's so mild today that I've not had any heating on at all!
