Default Filthy Jackdaws!

I live very close to couple of rookeries, mainly jackdaws and rooks. Competition for food must be pretty intense, more so as we move into winter. This autumn they seem to have developed a very nasty habit of dissecting the dog poop which then makes it very difficult to dispose! Our Lab is only fed dried food with occasional scraps both meat and veg, but no breads or anything sweet. She also has a carrot to munch on most evenings.

At first I wasnt sure who was disturbing the poop until I spotted a jackdaw on the case. Is this unusual bird behaviour?
