Default International Petition on illegal hunting in Malta

DEMAND THAT MALTA RESPECTS THE EU LAW AND STOP KILLING OF PROTECTED BIRDS

Malta has recently come out of a court case at the European Court of Justice and been found in breach of the Birds Directive for opening a spring hunting season in 2004,5,6,7. Despite this, the Maltese government is coming under a lot of pressure by the hunting lobby to open the season again this year, and shamelessly has announced it is considering opening the season.

Because of this, we are running an international petition to demand that Malta respects the EU birds Directive and does not open spring hunting this year. Please help BirdLife Malta’s campaign against illegal killing of protected bird species by signing the petition.

I would be grateful if you could pass this petition on to your friends and relatives.

Many thanks.

Me too.
The wifes sister got married in Malta about 5 years ago and I wouldn't go to it because they wouldn't stop hunting. Didn't go down to well with the inlaws but the only way to make them stop is to hit them in the pocket, the more of us boycott the place the better.

Signed.
It's a shame they do that. It's such a historical country, been there many times in the past. In my Navy days.

I signed the petition elsewhere this morning. I say kick Malta out of the EU if they cannot abide by the rules!

Good on you, Merlin!

I have just signed.

This dispicable slaughter is still just as common in Crete, Cyprus and Sicily.

Default Cyprus

Yes there was a discussion on Radio 4 over Christmas about what goes on in Cyprus where thousands of Robins, Blackcaps and others are captured and used as a local delicacy. Worst of all much of it happens within a Government controlled military compound. If the authorities don't have the will to deal with that there's no hope.

It's just dreadful isn't it!
There can't be much meat on a Robin or Blackcap tho.......they must slaughter an awful lot!
Education and information is the only hope.....along with these petitions!
