Hi there your pictures are good I believe the first three are of linnits, the fourth is deffinatly a yellow hammer, what lens did you use, I have a nikon d50, my main lens is a sigma 300mm with a 1.4 converter, although sigma is reasnobly priced, I think I am going to change for a nikon make. best regards mac

I only have the Tamaron 70 - 300mm at the moment and the basic 28 - 70mm and a sigma 135 - 400mm but hope to move onto more Nikon lenses next year.
Many thanks for your kind comments

Well with the pictures you have taken i would stick with the lenses you have as there is nothing wrong with the pictures you have, in fairness i think i have got a soft lens, as sigma is far better made than nikon been metal and not your plastics, I have a new 170 to 500mm sigma zoom whic i bought and i have only used it twice. it takes great pictures but i find it very heavy and awkward for my athritic hands, so will be going on e-bay. best regards mac this is one i took hand held

I have 3x Nikons including D300, and they have paid for themselves in enjoyment and money, A good start would be Nikon Nikon AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/4D IF-ED - 34280 Which with a 1.4 convertor would still focus. But before jumping into the big money bracket, there are real good independent lens makers out there with great quality optics and many £'s cheeper.

Just asking because, the higher range Nikon Cameras have a fine tune focusing mode in camera so your lens to camera may be slightly out so you can tune the focus to the lens, D 300S has this. So your lens may seem soft but not tuned to the camera.
