Took a wee trip out there today to make sure I found it allright as will be meeting Alan to take him there when he comes up on November 4th.
It's near Cardross Bay so we could cover both areas easily.
It was a lovely day so no excuses not to go.

Arrived home on Friday 01 October after an eventful flight. The flight from Abu Dhabi to Amsterdam was fine but the the plane from Amsterdam to Humberside had to return to Amsterdam 20 minutes into the flight due to technical problems. Managed to transfer to the next flight and arrived home about 5 hours late - minus my baggage which subsequently arrived at 02.30 on Saturday morning! Great to be knocked up at that time after such a long journey.

Spent time at three places today. First stop, Muirshiel hoping to see Crossbills. Arrived about 10.30am.

The reception Centre does not open till 11am. Thankfully the public toilets were open as the last leg of the journey can be a bit bumpy with a few big pot holes. Doesn't help the bladder (or the car wheels) one bit.

I made a trip to the RSPB reserve at Marshside in Southport yesterday and my first sighting was me 'ole mucker - Bassist, walking along the path leading to the shore line.

Along here were several Meadow Pipits and a large flock of Goldfinches which looked a bit special, flashing gold as they darted and wheeled.

Although it was a dry, warm and sunny day, the wind was getting up a bit making it feel chilly, so we headed for Nels hide for a bit of respite.
