RSPB Leighton Moss, Silverdale, Lancashire 4
Tags little egret, little grebe, marsh harrier, redshank, snipe
I was joined by Bassist on a trip to Leighton Moss today - the birding was good and the company better - I had to leave a couple of hides and go outside to try and controll fits of the giggles and avoid the stares of other birders. But enough of that - I can't wait for the Fairburn Ings outing
The Allen and Eric Morcambe hides again provided the best birding, with numerous waders and ducks. The main reserve was quieter, but had Snipe and Godwits too.
Throughout the day we saw:
Little Egret (3)
Grey Heron
Black-tailed Godwits
Snipe (5)
Redshank
Greenshank
Teal
Gadwall
Mallards
Shoveler
Coot
Moorhen
Curlew
Little Grebe
Crows
Marsh Harrier
a female Sparrow Hawk
Canada Geese
Black-headed Gulls
Mute Swans
Swallows
and we think a late Swift
There are some dodgy images in the albums for you to squint over
