Wet and dark this morrning walking round the reserve, did see the Herons near the edge of the water, but soon went when they saw me in my bright blue rain coat!!!
Did try walking round the edge of the water but got stuck in the mud up to my knees(must take more care when out on my own)
There are birds out on the water but it's so big even with my bins i can't tell what they are.The best thing was the Red Kite flying over my head.Had a good two hour walk despite the lack of new birds

I once got caught in a bog Amanda, up to my knees, in the Forest of Bowland, near Dunsop Bridge!! Fortunately I wasn't alone, but I know how scary it was - glad you are able to tell us the tale!

In my case, it took 3 weeks before the colour came back to my feet - the dye ran from my walking shoes -

Just looked up Eccup Res for the waterfowl that may be out there on the water, "During the Autumn period; some maxima are shown. Wigeon (150), Gadwall (small Nos), Teal (100), Pintail (Few only), Shoveler (20), Pochard (50), Tufted Duck (100), Goldeneye (30) Goosander (100) and an occasional Ruddy Duck". All the commoner Gulls plus possible Med, Glaucous and Little.
Oh and don't forget we expect photos of them ALL.
