A Shore thing.
I'm not normally one for racing around the country twitching. But if something turns up in the North West I will make an effort to try and see it. And thats exactly what I did this morning. Got up bright and early to try a catch sight of the Shore Lark which turned up at Southport yesterday afternoon. Got there at 7.30 and by 9.45 there was no sign. So soaked wet through I decided to accept defeat and headed home stopping at Crosby marine park on the way to see if anything was on the lake. And you guessed it just as I took my seatbelt off at Crosby marine lake car park I got an email from birdguides on my phone. Someone had spotted the Shore Lark 10 minutes after I left. Dilemma either except defeat or head back to Southport. Well, I wasn't going to accept a soaking for nothing and headed back. And there it was when I got back bold as brass posing for numerous photos and about 30 other birders. Lovely bird and I'm glad I went back. Watched it for about an hour and got some not so good digiscope shots. Also got some Pink feet over head and a flock of 40 odd Twite so not a bad morning after all. Oh the joys of birding.
List:
