After a drizzly morning and a trip to Asda it was good to be out walking in the sunny but windy afternoon! A churchyard was the starting point. A Grey Wagtail flew overhead calling as it headed towards the brook alongside the churchyard. Next to the church is a stately home which is set in 350 acres of landscaped deer park grazed by Fallow Deer of several colours. Buzzards, a Raven, Sparrowhawk, Mistle and Song Thrush, Robin and Coal Tit, were the highlights. A Red Admiral was busy feeding on the Ivy along the bridle path. A Speckled Wood was also momentarily seen. I will hopefully be visiting this area as often as time permits, I think Redwings and Fieldfares would be a highly likely sighting here.

    Sounds lovely Judith,

I agree with Merlin, the last image of the deer is great - looks like the stag was keeping an eye on you.

Thanks for your kind comments Merlin and Alan. The area is just 5 minutes by car from my home so I will check it out as often as possible, it is so tranquil there. There are a few benches in the churchyard so I will also have a chance to take it easy at the same time as wildlife watching!
