Just found that it is only possible to attach 5 photos to one blog, I dont want to delete the other photos so started another blog.
Thursday 14 April
Went for the usual walk around Tayport, armed with bread and water for the nesting swan at the harbour, this time we have a bottle of water to top up the drinking container.
Once at the harbour we notice that both parents are at the nest, pen and cob. (Photo 1)
Both swans have been well fed and there is plenty of bread and scraps left by other passers by, both swans just drink the water out of the container we took with us.
We where lucky enough we watch the swans swap over on the nest and get a glimpse at the eggs.
There are five eggs in total, you can only see four in the photo. (Photo 2)
Sunday 17 April
Both parents at the nest site so we fed and watered them again.
I believe that swans sit on the eggs for about 30 to 35 days, so I dont think I will see any change until about mid May.
Friday 6 May
Had a walk past the swans, all seems to be ok, mother got off the nest whilst I was watching her. There are now seven eggs in total. Dont think there will be any change for 10-14 days.
Sunday 22 May
Still no change, something must happen any time soon.
Saturday 28 May
Took the usual walk and when arriving at the nest found it empty and very little signs of hatched eggs.
A little concerned as the swans and chicks were no where to be seen within the harbour.
So decided to set off along the beach, a very windy and choppy day and about half a mile along the beach came across the swans with six signets.
Very surprised to see them at sea so soon with there young, less than a week old, we managed to tempt them into the seaweeds and shallow water with some bread.
A great sight, the whole family, 6 signets...
Hope all goes well for them...
Monday 22 Aug
The swans can still be seen around the harbour area in Tayport, unfortunately there are only 5 signets now, they are all looking fit and healthy.
