Went for a one day birdphotography class to west cork
A place called rathcormack, well worth the 3 hour drive.

west Cork has it,s own microclimate, always a few degrees warmer then in the midlands, especially during the winter.

Tody was a great oportunity to spot some waders, today was about how to improve on technique rather then to photograph a lot of different varieties.

Decided to give it a go!

Hi all, decided to sart blogging, so I can let the forum know about the south of ireland and it,s birdwatch opportunities.

I live in a small village called camross, it is in the slieve bloom mountains (more hills than actual mountains) but sparsley populated and endowed with quite a bit of forresty. It,s about 100 KM south west of Dublin.

The midland are relativelye flat, these hills are sort of "sticking out".

Eccup challange

Managed to get to Eccup to day,have been of work,had a operation on my hand so to day was the first time I could drive safely.

Parked at the farm and did the walk round the back of the fields towards Emmerdale,didn't think I would see much as things have been very quiet just lately.But 36+ different species later I had had a good morning.

Birding heaven?

Have just got back from the holiday that I have always wanted to take. My wife found a small advert in the RSPB magazine and said that it looked interesting. The holiday was for a fully guided week in southern france.

We were picked up at the airport and for the next week we had nothing to worry about. Our host Andrew asked what birds we were hoping to see. I said 'vultures and bee eaters maybe', and he said, 'no worries'!
