I live in Portstewart in Northern Ireland, and yesterday the 11/04/09 at abou 5pm i spotted about 10 birds on a bush in my garden that i had'nt seen before and after looking up my book, i identified them as waxwings! they only stayed a short time, i tried to get a photo but failed. i was quite excited i have to say that i have been looking to blog it somewhere!

Can anybody tell me is this rare?, are there many sightings of these this far northwest?

I live in the north-west highlands of Scotland. We see waxwings in the garden around November time when they often stop off during migration for an energy top-up.
There are images on my website.
