Default New Scope

I am looking to purchase a spotting scope, budget of about 300. I have been looking at the digiscoping kits too but have not seen much feedback on them.

Are they worth the money? Are the kits better than putting an adaptor on the scope?

Any advice would be welcome

Julie

I'm a bit ignorant on this but are the digiscope kits just a form of adaptor ?
As for budget scopes have a look at the Hawke Nature Trek scopes well within your budget as are some of the Opticron models.

Some kits come with the adaptor and camera.

Best advice on buying a scope? Test and compare as many as you can before making your chopice. What suits one person will seem awful to another. Hawke and Celestron are good places to start, and I think Viking cover your price range too. Also, think about a used scope too, it will widen your options.

As for digiscoping, I tried it and gave up, losing money on a kit along the way. BUT, if you have a smartphone people seem to get great results from them, and all you need is a (relatively cheap) adapter. But generally digiscoping is not easy, it just sounds like it should be.

Good luck with both the scope and the digiscoping, and let's know how you fare.

Tony
