Default 60 years of Protection, for what ??

RSPB: Sixty years of protection but the killing continues

Its about time a real effort was made for the protection of these birds, including a better stance from the R.S.P.B. who don't seem to want to upset the landed gentry.

I once had several heated discussions with an acquaintance who was an enthusiastic pheasant & grouse shooter about birds of prey. He was doing a game keeping course at college.

His opinion was that the shoots are organised and the game managed at cost to the landowners and birds lost to predation are therefore lost profit. Upshot was he thought it perfectly acceptable to shoot/poison wild birds of prey, regardless of the law, in order to protect the stock of game birds for sport and profit.

Needless to say, he didn't stay an acquaintance for long......
