Birds were more or less non existant. Only saw collared doves mostly. Two swallows, one Azure magpie I think that went to pester the collared doves at the tree in the hotel.
I saw one seagull :eek:. One seagull at a seaside resort............:confused:

Some house sparrows, chickens from the next door apartments to the hotel. But absolutely nothing to report home about.
I am guessing that maybe there are too many fires in the area which would obviously keep birds away.
It was also far too hot to go trekking through woods. two minutes of walking resulted in sweat lashing down my back. 45c would do that of course.
Overall, really disappointed at the lack of birds. Saw a loggerhead turtle on the river trip. Some sand martins were there and I think one white Heron or an Egret. It has an orange beak though.
Will show photos later of what I think was an azure magpie but it seemed larger. and the heron/egret?

The A380 will start it's weekly scheduled flight in and out of the airport at lunchtime!
I shall be in the garden hoping to get a pic of the metal giant as it arrives or departs a few hours later!:)

I’ve recently set up a online diary which tracks my day to day movements in the birding world, I’ve combined this blog with a forum for discussing all things birding which people are free to post there own topics on joining the site. Also people are free to post picture of trips etc and message other members. When the membership builds to a reasonable amount I am planning to configure competitions, and even plan trips for members to popular birding sites.

The success of the site depends on members so please join and contribute to this new birding site and hopefully we can watch it grow together.

Could anyone ID this for me, while out and about yesterday with my wife we came across a caterpiller, to give a brief discription it was about three inches long and black, on each of its body segments it had a white spot, its body was about half an inch across; to be truthful i have never seen a caterpiller this big and i just wish i had my camera with me.

Any help would be gratefully received, i have checked my philips guide and have check a site on the web that shows loads but cannot find it, I will be looking again soon and i shall be armed with camera.
