Default BlueTits have gone

We put up two nesting boxes and within 24 hrs one had a pair of Blue Tits nest building. They were very active nest builders. Last week we found a very young dead chick below the box and since then the parents seem to have deserted the box. Just wondering what may have caused them to go and if I should do anything with the box at the moment as there could be more chicks but I expect they would be dead by now.

Thanks

Les

Possibly one or both of the parents were predated or they were inexperienced parents, hard to say what could be the cause. Sad to hear. Leave the box untouched as it is illegal to clean out nest boxes during the breeding season.

Didn't know that was illegal assuming you know the chicks may be dead.
But Blue Tits can clean out themselves if they wish to take over the nest.
They do clear out any dead chicks that die in their brood so if others want to take over, then they will clean it out themselves.
Don't think it would make it very appealing mind you if dead chicks are there
