Question Feeders question

Now that the tits have eaten all the elderberries from the tree at the end of my garden they fly straight by my feeders presumably to another tree which still has fruit. I expect they'll return when the natural food is gone.

My question is how often should I change the seeds, peanuts and fat balls in the feeders?

I have a two week rule. If a feeder has stuff left after that long, I empty the contents at the bottom where the crows and pigeons scoff it. This normally only happens to the peanut feeders, the seeds and fat balls never last that long. This is also when I clean the feeders too.

Thanks for the quick reply Peter, I'll empty them out and wash them at the weekend.

Peter, just a quick question on how you clean your feeders. Im fairly good at keeping on top of them but at the end of the summer i took them all apart and washed them then placed them in baby strength milton then rinsed and allowed to dry. since putting them back together, i am really struggling to keep them dry inside so food is going moldy realy quickly! Im worried ive broken the seals on them all. THey are too expensive to keep buying new ones so would welcome any suggestions for keeping moisture out!

It's difficult. I put some under cover but with these dank, misty dew laden mornings anything outside will get damp.
