Default sunflower border

We have just retired to Herefordshire & now have a large garden with mature hedge boundaries teeming with birds. We were delighted with the dozens of birds who are now flocking to our bird feeders. The record has been blue tits 5 seconds after hanging up the peanut feeder and 8 goldfinches at one time on niger feeder. Until we can get suitable perennial plants established we would like to plant one boundry with a sunflower border for the birds, will the black sunflower seeds for birds grow such a border? The packet seeds are quite expensive as our boundary is over 50 metres long. Would welcome advice.

As long as the soil is right and there is enough sun there is no reason why they shouldn't grow.
