Goodness me it must have been from good stock!!!!
I know I shouldn't say this but.........wouldn't it break your heart (and bank balance) paying that much for a pigeon and a Hawk nabs it!!!

I doubt the bird would ever be allowed out, it will be used for breeding, then the ofspring will be sold for a very high price, I would think in three years the bird would more than pay for itself.
