I'm having trouble making that out (my be my new varifocals). Is it carrying something?

I can't really begin to guess, though what I think is the tail could suggest Red Kite.

I don't think it is your specs to blame, Peter. I still haven't quite sorted the pic out!

Judith and Tony you are half right. There are two Red Kites in the photo. The lower one is doing a roll (I think).

This photo was taken a few seconds later. I think the Kites were agitated by the presence of the third raptor ( Buzzard?) in their favoured tree.

That 1st photo looked good for a bird quiz until you gave your take on it and the 2nd one with 2 Kites and a Buzzard is a great example of right place at right time well shot.Be interesting to know the rough location.
