Theres an interesting story behind this moth, I'm sure you've already heard but I post it just in case.
Ragwort (the plant the caterpillar is eating) is not a British species it escaped from Oxford University botanical section in the late 1700s which is why it is also known as Oxford Ragwort. Because it is poisonous to some of our livestock they introduced the Cinnabar Moth in an attempt to kill it off, of course it failed.

Thanks for that Merlin,I did know it was poisonous to animals but I did not know the story of the plant...
