common lizard
Sunning itself on one of the walkway edges at Titchfield Haven. When I showed the snap to one of the wardens he said that the last time he had seen one it had been dangling from the beak of a great grey shrike.

The last time I was at Denny Wood in The New Forest I nearly stepped on one. It scuttled away into the leaf litter before I could photograph it. Arne Reserve (RSPB) is excellent for reptiles (you might have seen Simon there on Springwatch?).
