I decided to join this group when someone wrote that although he had bought niger seed he still wasn't getting any Goldfinches on his bird table. I have lots of Goldfinches and although I have niger seed only two or three of them eat it. Most of them go for sunflower hearts. My birding is limited to the birds in my garden. I like to feed them and watch them. There is a Sparrow Hawk who visits regularly but he only watches I think he is a pet bird and well fed, so he leaves my birds alone.
