Default The biggest ever bird!!!

The world's largest aeroplane is due to arrive at Manchester today!
The A380 will start it's weekly scheduled flight in and out of the airport at lunchtime!
I shall be in the garden hoping to get a pic of the metal giant as it arrives or departs a few hours later!

BBC News - Airbus A380 plane due to land at Manchester Airport

Yes, pics please Ruth. I haven't seen one yet and look forward to it. We are thinking of re-instating our annual winter trip to UAE so might get one next time.

I used to fly almost every week for work and am a bit of an airplane nut. I hate airports though. My work week used to start at 6am in Stansted. I don't miss them at all.

One flew past the Rovers ground* during a match last season, even from that distance it looked astonishingly big.

*on its way to Filton Airport where bits of it were made.

I didn't see or hear a thing except 2 Sparrowhawks and a Migrant Hawker!
The planes flying over the garden are the ones taking off so will try again later as it departs Manchester at 3.30pm.

The link now reports the story of the plane landing. What made me chuckle was the following quote

One of the spectators told the BBC: "This is amazing. Once in a lifetime. It is a world first."

I can agree with the amazing part, but "once in a life time"??, it's going in every day from now on and "world first", it's been in service for 2 years!!

Very excitable these plane spotters!! (Almost as bad as bird watchers).

Well apparently it took off 20 minutes late.....I saw micro-lights,little planes, helicopters and big planes but didn't see the big one??? Maybe it has a different flight path to the others???
As it's now a regular weekly service I'm sure I'll see it one of these days!
Here's some footage of it taxi-ing at the airport today......it's huge!!!!

That must have seemed so surreal to those drivers heading towards the subway!!! That is one mighty big plane, Ruth! I reckon you are lucky if it has a different flight path!

Thanks for the link and updates of 'the biggest ever bird'!
