Default 'Where did you get that hat'

I purchased the hat in the pic ar WWT Slimbridge last week, a good purchase for £9.99p as I was to find out! The hat keps my cranium, neck, chin and cheeks warm and does not impede the use of bins and camera that are slung around my neck.

Not the height of fashion but when out birding who really cares, I know I don't, well to a point.lol!

What headgear do you wear in the cold?

Being follically challenged, I need extra insulation year round. Here is my selection of day wear.

Bottom Left, my Dads hat (from M&S) which I inherited. It's my gardening hat now but I do use it for Birdwatching in the summer. I guess it's a sun hat. It's dirty and quite tatty but the only piece of clothing I kept of his so I will keep it and use it. Worn in temperatures 15c and above.

Top Left, I brought this more formal leather hat thinking I would be able to wear it out and about on the town. Apparently I cannot, I am told it makes me look like a fat ugly Dave Hill who doesn't even look like Dave Hill. Never worn no matter the temperature.

Top right and Bottom Right, the current ones being worn. The top one is actually too warm unless you are not moving around much, the greeny one is similar to Judiths and gets worn the most. Worn in temperatures 5 degrees and below. Apparently, if you tie the ear flaps up you look a right twot in it, so I am reliably informed.

In the middle is my flat cap. I would sleep in it if I were allowed. It is perfect for temperatures between 5 and 15 degrees. I think it is perfect for all occasions, business meetings, weddings, job interviews, royal garden parties and the like. Apparently it isn't.

And you know I am a motor racing fan, here is some of my collection of caps. The red Ferrari one was singed for me personally by Eddie Irvine and the Blue one top right was signed by Mark Webber who lives near me and owns the village pub. The Palmer sport one I got for being on the winning team at Bedford Autodrome.

Ha ha! My ear flaps will never be tied up Peter!
Thank you for your time and effort in showing us your delightful assortment of hats. Do you have a 'hat' fetish! You have a good selection and some that are no doubt treasured.

In view of the effort you made Peter I have added 3 more of my hats.

The first is my knitted hat (not by me) with scarf attached, this is a warm hat but the scarf can be a pain sometimes with bins etc. The second hat is a fleece hat which is warm but does my head in after a while as it fits fairly tight on my head. The third is a type of skull cap that is waterproof and warm and fits close to the head, the hat will sit comfortably under a looser hat for extra warmth and protection from rain and wind. i have yet to try it out.

Lol Ruth! My new hat matches my full length brown waterproof and padded Craghoppers coat that I recently bought..they were both well worn during my Somerset trip and kept me cosy wozy!
