Default Nikon Trailblazer 10x42 on Ebay

Just a "heads up" for those looking for inexpensive bins.
These gas filled, waterproof compact bins are available for a discounted price on Ebay.

I've got no connection to the seller, but have bought a pair. I'll let you know how they are when they arrive.

My offer of £55 was accepted, you might get a pair for less.

My pair arrived today.

They are mechanically quite similar to my Nikon 8x42 Monarchs, similar weight and feel with the same (slightly irritating) light click location of the eye-cups when extended. The controls are steady and damped, all very similar to my excellent Monarchs.

In use, they give a similar apparent field of view to the Monarchs and a fairly neutral coloured image.
It's difficult to compare a 10x42 with an 8x42 as a good 8x will always appear to be sharper than a 10x of the same model. It was a surprise to see how much magnification they give. Clearly more than the 8x and more than my Opticron Imagic TGA (porro) 10x42. If it were not marked on the side, I would guess at nearer11x mag.
I am relieved to report that they are not as sharp as my Monarchs (cause they cost a lot less), but given their magnification they give a good detailed image and a comfortable view.
Overall, very good value and performance for the price.

Looks as if these are to be claimed by my wife, to whom these are a revelation when compared to her 8x32 Discoveries.

Long min focus of 5m could be an issue to some as is the smallish eye relief of around 16mm.

Dave...

Ouch! looking at the previous sales of this item, some sold on the offer of £45.

He sold one pair for 30 quid. Looks like 45 is the offer to make though. 55 delivered. I am tempted.
