Hi Alan,
Haven't been there before so don't know much about the reserve, the West Midland Bird Club has some good info on their web site (link below)

Hi Alan,

I have visited RSPB Sandwell Valley but not for a long while. I have always found the volounteers there very helpful and friendly. The reserve is a pleasant walk around and they have a fairly new Lakeside hide which gives good views of the lake.

If you get the chance then Worcestershire Wildlife Trusts Upton Warren Reserve is a must! This is my favoured reserve and one I regularly visit!
Reserves

Hope you have an enjoyable visit to Sandwell Valley and like Ruth I would love to read about it in a trip report!

I developed my interest in birding there as a young boy 50 years ago, long before the name Sandwell had been dreamt up. It was a fabulous resource then, very wild and inaccessible with many different birds and habitats extending down the river Tame past the golf course to the old Hampstead colliery site, and even in the derilect industrial area that much of Sanwell Valley reserve is derived from.
Most of the remote areas are very urbanised now which is a shame. I too must make an effort to visit if only to see what my old haunts look like now!

I do visit the reserve very regulary but only walk around the lake and use the hide but must admit they have just refurbished quite a large bit of the site so here's hoping for better luck this year

My year list for 2011 from the reserve is as follows but didn't start till mid june so all being well will do better this year
