Default Lochwinnoch Monday 8/3/10

Good Morning. I paid a visit to Lochwinnoch yesterday from 1150-1330. On the feeder station by the Visitor centre was seen Chaffinch, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Blackbird and a couple of Reed Buntings. The next feeder station produced Long Tailed tit, Robin and more Chaffinches. Out on the water was 4 Herons, loads of Goldeneye, Goosander, Tufted Duck, Mallard and Mute Swan. There were also Gulls but the Highlight was a Male Smew which hasn't been seen for a while.

Best Wishes

Jonathan

I love it when he shows off his crown. And he looks liike a sort of bandit with those dark patches over his eyes. I feel sorry he doesn't have a female.

Hi Johnnie,

I was down at Lochwinnoch on the 11th. I saw the usual Blue Tits, Chaffinches, Great Tits. Also saw my first Willow Warblers of the year, a Blackcap, 3 Redpolls, 3 Bulfinches, a couple of Reed Buntings, a Great Crested Grebe, Tufted Ducks, Goldeneye. The Smew seems to have left now though, which was ashame because he was very handsome bird but hopefully he's found himself a female.
For a small area there is a great selection of birds.

Valerie
