They are also now in Aberdeenshire, after a succesful three year reintroduction project, where chicks collected from several areas, including the Chilterns, and were released into the wild just outside Aberdeen. Here is an image of just one of the many I took care of prior to their long trip 'up north'. Approx 6 weeks old.

I think it is only a matter of time before they regularly appear in Kent.
Whenever I drive up to Scotland (about six times a year) I always prefer the M40 rather than the M1, to Birmingham. Because I enjoy, so much, the spectacle of up to 15 Red Kites in flight, at once. They are slowly making their way down the M40 towards the M25, and London. I have made one attempt so far to visit the Argaty centre near Doune. But they were closed on that day for some reason. ![]() Mike |
