Ive been to that reserve many times, its a wonderful site situated in a beautiful location. Last time I went in one of the bird hides there was a Swallows nest inside the hide with a Swallow frequently coming back and forth to feed the young. Very fascinating to watch especially being so close to it too
It sounds like you had a nice time in the wonderful country of Wales

This brings to mind an incident that happened this spring. Sue and I were staying in a cottage near the Elan Valley in Wales. Under the cottage was an open fronted store in which swallows were nesting. As it was a hot day, when we came in for some tea we left the door open. I went to the loo and whilst I was washing my hands I heard Sue call "There's a bird in the room." As I came out a swallow whizzed past my nose and out of the front door. It was almost certainly looking for a nest site. They don't miss a trick!

I had a wonderul time there for a few days. I went on one of the Mid Wales birdwatching weeks based near Aberystwyth. We also visited Yns-Las, Cors Caron and other areas. It is also good views both sided of the Dyfi estuary from the train.

Best Wishes

Jonathan
