Default Dippers in Yorkshire Dales

I am going to the Yorkshire Dales at the end of June. I really want to see a Dipper. (not many in Essex).
Can anyone tell me a good place to see Dippers in the Dales?

Thanks

Paul

Paul, the best spot is the walk along the river between the Abbey ruins and 'the Strid'. The ruins and the Strid are worth visiting in their own right, of course

Default Dippers in Yorkshire Dales

There are some Dippers nesting in the Barden bridge near Bolton Abbey. If you are going as far as Settle there are Dippers on the river Ribble near Settle High School.

Thanks to you all. We are staying near Grassington so not far from Bolton Abbey. Would it be too busy there on a Sunday?
We are going to Settle but only to get the train to Carlisle. My wife is a train nut. Will have a look there as well.

I don't think it would be 'too' busy. The dippers won't mind anyway, they'll be on the river

Its quite spread out between the abbey and the Strid so you'd be sure to find a quiet spot along it to watch from, if you didn't see one while you were walking.

The footbridge by the Cavendish Pavillion Cafe can be a good place to watch from, if it isn't busy.

When we visited, we saw more dippers upstream from the bridge but we also saw a couple downstream from it.

Again, good luck! Let us know how you get on!
