Had a good weekend but shattered, left at 5.30 sat morning and were up today at 5 to get out for a sunrise shot. We saw a few gannets and got at least a record shot of an adult with a juve.
We went to Filey Brigg but it was heaving with families and dogs so not really much chance of bird togging.
This morning we got the sunrise at flamborough and got a nice pic of a pied wagtail then went to spurn head. Shame we went all the way there to not get very far... No dogs allowed. Had a nice walk then headed along the coast. We ended up at rspb black toft sands. Again... No dogs so we went in one at a time. I saw an unknown wader and a stonechat.
Just driving back so will add a gannet pic later on

Yes, glad you had a great time and got your Gannet sightings and a great pic to share. Personally, I love the Pied Wagtail shot, it looks like he's given up flight and has taken to running instead

I was very suprised that a young gannet was still on the nest at this time of year, did you use flash as there is a flash shadow on the rocks. best regards mac

No, no flash at all Mac, it was the glorious sunshine casting the shadow. You can tell by the placement of the shadow that it didn't come from the camera

There was a young Gannet on it's own a bit lower down the cliff & they could see that one from the camera in the lodge, these two were siting too close for the camera to bend enough to get them so the staff were pleased to see the pic & went for a walk to have a look

It was so funny to watch, it ran here & there with a hop, skip & a jump
