Default RSPB Burton Mere Wetlands,Cheshire

We visited this brand new reserve for the first time yesterday and were very impressed!
The reserve will eventually join up to the original RSPB reserve in this area,Inner Marsh Farm via a walkway.
The new reserve has better facilities.....a toilet is a super addition that wasn't available before!!! along with hot drinks and modern viewing areas and 2 super hides!
There is also a woodland walk with wooden carvings,a feeding area and a loop through lovely pond area along with the superb views over the river Dee towards the Welsh hills beyond.
The staff were very helpfull and obviously proud of the new project, explaining future plans along with recent bird sightings etc.
My only critism is that the reception area hide is double glazed with no opening windows which made viewing difficult with refraction/sunlight problems.
Overall tho a great place that we will often visit and only 30 mins from our house!

Sounds good Ruth, i'm yet to visit the new reserve so I will have to get myself over there in the next couple of weeks. I believe the Great Egrets roosted there again last night.
