Default where is it

Hi all

Happy New Year, belatedly

Cant remember where I read about an area for seeing birds an other wildlife, so this is a long shot

All I remember is it was about 50mins from Preston, over past Hebdon Bridge way.
I am sure it was a figure of 8 walk, with some country lanes involved as well.
And that's all I remember really, might of got 2 sites mixed up but don't think I have

Hopefully someone will recognise where I am talking about.

Thanks

The Nation Trust property "Hardcastle Crags" is just out of Hebden Bridge. There are nice walks along the riverbank. One leg of the journey could be on a choice of country lanes and a wider circular route can be made using a quite lane/track.
It's good for riverside/woodland/moorland wildlife. We see Roe Deer there often.
If you go, take walking boots. the path can be rocky and muddy.

There is an old mill with mill pond in the woods. this has a nice cafe and interesting toilets.

A short walk to the mill and back would be perhaps 4 miles, a wider route 6 (ish). Busy on weekends and in nice weather, get there early to park.
Parking a few pounds, no other entry fee.

Walking past the mill will get you into the less visited part of the woodland valley and the actual crags (recommended). The walk can be done as a figure of eight by combining the track with the riverside walk. Better still, go over the short moorland stretch and drop down to the valley beyond the mill, then back on the riverside track.

Just out of Hebden Bridge on the road to Haworth.

50 mins from Preston sounds about right for RSPB Leighton Moss.
